A free 6-week online course facilitated by Three Birds Art Therapy is being offered from Oct. 5 through Nov. 9, starting at 2:00 pm (Central time). Each session is 1.5 hours.
Art Therapy uses creativity in order to support the healing process and improve a person’s physical, mental and emotional well-being in a client-centred, mindful and positive approach. Art Therapy allows you to work through difficult experiences and emotions verbally and non-verbally to communicate how you feel. You will be taught healthy coping strategies to self-manage challenges you face while gaining a positive sense of self and providing insight into yourself. You do not need to be an artist, just willing to be creative and connect with others. This course will focus on the fundamentals of self-care and gratitude. Sessions include:
- Oct. 5: Introduction to Self Care: Self Cheerleader Journal
- Oct. 12: Introduction to Gratitude: Paper Folding Fan Art
- Oct. 19: Gratitude Tree of Life
- Oct. 26: Sensory Guide Book to Self Care
- Nov. 2: Benefits of Mindfulness: Mandalas
- Nov. 9: Vision Boards: Goals and Hope for Moving Forward
* Art materials required must be supplied by participants and include the following:
Blank paper, scissors, markers, pencil crayons, pencil, eraser, glue stick, old magazines/newspapers to cut images/words from
